An American aviation unit is transferred to France during the First World War. Jerry Young, one of the experienced pilots, was quickly affected by the loss of many men during reconnaissance missions. An inexperienced pilot, Henry Crocker, joins them. The two men, despite their mutual animosity, team up and successfully fulfill their missions. But, after a bomb exploded at the officers bar and killed several new arrivals, Jerry shows worrying signs of fatigue.
