On the frozen borders of the north of England, the Roman army comes up against the tribe of the Picts, bloodthirsty barbarians who master the terrain perfectly. In order to eradicate the threat, the local governor calls on the legendary 9th legion of General Titus Virilus, the elite battalion of the Empire. But, against all odds, the cohort is massacred in a terrible ambush and the General is taken prisoner. Only Centurion Marcus Dias and a few survivors miraculously escaped the carnage.
